Individual Psychotherapy for Adults
Therapy provides an opportunity to say the unsaid and be heard with compassion. My goal as a therapist is to create a space that is safe enough for you to explore difficult emotions — like fear, shame, rage, and grief — while building the capacity to experience these emotions with openness and courage. This is tough work, but it can help you live with vigor and integrity and increase your ability to navigate life’s challenges. In my role as a therapist, I strive to support you with curiosity, humility, wonder, and playfulness.
Sometimes it is helpful to think of therapy as a journey. Imagine your psyche as an inner landscape, one that is as unique and as complex as you are. You know this landscape better than anyone. In it there are familiar places, beautiful places, frightening places, mysterious places. During your journey you pass through all of these places and more. Perhaps there is a specific place you’d like to find on your journey, one that is both safe and exciting. Or maybe there is an unpleasant place you find yourself in, again and again, despite your best efforts to leave. Maybe you don’t even know where you’re going on this journey, just that you’re looking for a place where your heart can rest.
As a therapist, I can be a companion on your journey. I bring with me expertise in navigating rough terrain, in locating necessary tools and resources, and in finding warmth and safety along the way. I am comfortable scaling heights and exploring depths. Together, I hope we can honor the splendor of your incredible inner world.
